- Caching Carnival
No, this is NOT a physical get out and go to geocaching event… although that could be a lot of fun! This is just an announcement that thegeocacher.com will be hosting a BLOG carnival every couple of weeks.
So what in the world is a blog carnival? A blog carnival is where someone takes the time to find good blog posts on a given topic, and then puts all those posts together into a blog post called a “carnival”. It’s kind of like a magazine. The someone (me) acts as an editor and takes all of the articles and posts that are submitted, reviews each one, throws out the ones that just don’t apply or are inappropriate, and then categorizes the remaining into a periodic post for our readers.
Blog carnivals are also a great way for bloggers to recognize each other’s efforts, and improve the overall level of conversation in the blogosphere. Since a blog carnival includes many posts on specific topics, they also serve as a method of connecting with those who are experts and those who have a strong interest in the carnival’s topic.
The blog carnival that we are going to host here at thegeocacher.com will occur approximately every two weeks. I will accept posts until late every other Sunday night and will begin compiling the carnival for posting on Wednesday. If you are a blogger or you happen to run across a great blog article that you would like to share you can submit it for inclusion by going to the Geocaching Carnival Posting Link . This will ensure that we get all of the information that we need.
The carnival will be posted along with all other postings that we make on thegeocacher.com. To make them easy to find we will also include a special category titled “carnival”. This will allow you to click on that particular category in the sidebar and see all postings. You could of course also go to http://www.thegeocacher.com/category/carnival to see them.
The first deadline will be January 18… I look forward to all of your submissions.
