Snowy Winter Geocaching…A few tips…

As winter sets in for those of us up here in the northern hemisphere the treasure hunt that is geocaching becomes more difficult. You will notice I did not say impossible, just more difficult. Many roads and trails become impassible and since many geocaches are somewhere on the ground you can run into challenges with snow covering the cache.

First Cache of the New Year…

When the weather outside looks like this it is pretty hard to not only hide a cache but the search becomes quite challenging as well.

I was quite happy when I received my email of new caches from geocaching.com that someone had placed a cache in our area AND it was relatively close AND it was winter accessible. I just had to jump on the opportunity to go searching. It could be my New Year’s first.

When I think of winter I don’t necessarily think of geocaching. In our climate here in the Pacific Northwest, there is just something about the thought of trudging through inches, if not feet of snow looking for a hidden container that is not real appealing to me.
