OK… I couldn’t help myself. I had been reading about this penguin on various blog posts in the blogosphere and well, once I found the correct website to make the purchase I just couldn’t help but buy a pair. They appear to be elegantly simple and quite charming!
I believe these were actually made by Oakcoins here in the states but the designer and owner is from the UK… His geocaching moniker… Eclectic Penguin of course.
I will let you all know when they arrive. I suspect what I will do as I have done in the past is release one out into the world and keep one for my own “collection” which at the moment is quite small. I am sure my wife is hoping that it doesn’t go the way of my Disney (Mickey Mouse) pin collection which now contains literally hundreds of Mickey Mouse pins…. Hmmm… I wonder if I could get away with a Mickey “like” geocoin without a huge lawsuit on my hands. I better investigate that!
Oh and in case your are looking for them… they can be found here for 6.50 pounds which is about $.9.75.
I think this is a real great blog article. Want more.
Thanks for your kind words about my first personal coin – it’s good to see that people appreciated the work I put into it! You may not be aware, although the first batch sold out almost as quickly as I could put them in the envelopes, more are about to be made available (in about 3-4 weeks) – this time with glow in the dark eyes and belly, in antique bronze. Also, my second personal coin is about to be announced on the coins forum – a puffin.
Oh, those look so cute! I wonder if Joani bought one. I don’t think she’s been buying may geocoins these days.
